Ankit led us through a truly heartwarming session centred on heart-opening and grounding practices. With his expert guidance – and the helpful, caring adjustments from his wife and fellow yoga teacher, Monika – we journeyed through a thoughtful series of backbends. The expert use of props made each posture more accessible, offering both support and depth as we gradually built towards Urdhva Dhanurasana as our peak pose. The challenge to repeat it ten times certainly kept us engaged! All throughout, Ankit reminded us to pay close attention to leg alignment, the positioning of the feet and toes, and the way we root down.

What shone through was the beautiful balance Ankit cultivated between strength (Sthira) and surrender (Sukha). Through both static holds and dynamic sequences, he encouraged us to explore this subtle dance within our own bodies. His cheerful approach, along with reflections on balancing confidence and ego – and of course the importance of a smile – brought lightness and joy even to the most challenging moments of practice.

The workshop concluded with a deeply restorative 20-minute Yoga Nidra, leaving everyone nourished, grounded, and rebalanced. After the busyness of the summer break, it was a gift to come together with SYA under the guidance of the ever-charming and knowledgeable Ankit. The session offered the perfect opportunity to reconnect with practice, rebuild foundations, and restore both physical strength and inner calm.
Ankit’s warmth, wisdom, and cheer made the day not just a workshop, but a truly heartfelt experience
