Morning Session

Fierce Grace - The Alchemical Process of Working with Tapas and Tejas Through Yoga

Tapas is what heats us, what provokes us to be better. Tapas doesn't literally mean to heat the body, however that could be a gateway for some in a yoga asana class. It actually means the stoking of our inner fire, which leads to the purification that builds our character, strengthening our will, when are able to say "my intention is stronger than the obstacles I face, my willpower is stronger than my old patterns". When tapas is rightfully applied, it leads to tejas. Tejas is the radiant splendour of personality. A person with a strong tejas has a twinkle in their eye, focussed clarity, insight, courage, fearlessness, compassion, creativity and a melting tenderness that draws all hearts.

Our time on the mat will invoke many yoga practices to play with these concepts of tapas and tejas, such as dynamic, physical asana (finding your own intuitive level), deep rest, mantra, and meditation. Come away feeling delighted, centred and empowered.

Afternoon Session

Let the Light In

Solstice is the point where the sun appears to reach either its highest or lowest point in the sky for the year and thus ancient astronomers came to know the day as one where the Sun appeared to 'stand still'.

How is it possible to access the space of grace within? In this sweet, reflective sadhana we enquire into the nature of where yoga points us, so we can literally 'stand still' in the light of our being. We will be using the incredible toolbox of yoga to access this majesty. Expect to see asana that moves you towards stillness, ready for yin, restoratives, meditation, mantra and a deep relaxation to complete the practice.

Attendees are required to bring:

 - 2 bricks

 - 1 bolster

 - 1 blanket

 - 1 strap

If you have any extra props, please bring them along, just in case some bodies need extra support for the Yin poses.
