About the event
Winter is characterised by colder weather, a sense of heaviness, increased moisture (usually in the form of rain or snow), cloud-covered days, and the grounded, slow feeling that sends many animals into hibernation. These are all qualities shared by kapha dosha, which is why winter is considered—primarily—a kapha season.
As some animals instinctively hibernate, we also do well to spend time getting much-needed R&R. The increased amount of darkness is a seasonal sign that we need more sleep and rest at this time of year, so pencilling in, early in the year, a date for a full-on R&R in December is perfect wellbeing management!
Vata is all about movement and activity, but is also strongly linked to anxiety, whilst Kapha is related to stillness and ‘groundedness’, yet also inertia. Balancing these two aspects will be the theme of this session.
We will explore ways of nourishing the self, finding stillness, and focussing on self-care. We'll ramp up the heaters, wear cosy clothes, snuggle into blankets, keep socks on to retain more body heat and become dreamy, deliciously surrendered, and totally relaxed. Expect to feel the joy of Christmas emerge as we help the light within shine a little more brightly…
No experience required.
Please bring any props that you might usually use in any yoga session; to ensure you are comfortable throughout the morning please wear loose comfy clothing. Bring a cosy blanket, eye mask, strap, bolster and or cushion, socks are ideal to ensure warmth during the last part of the session.
Join us after this session to welcome in the festive season with our annual Christmas social gathering; free mince pies and mulled ‘non wine’ will be shared.
